(OG from TYPO-GRAPHICAL). Should have shown up to this get together…damn! (it was raining like hell, and peep’s don’t much go out in LA when it rains…)- Anyhow, this has a sick soundtrack, good visuals, and looks like a really fun jamm. The folks at the Heights & Quintin do it right! – Some nice lines, and slick tricks going on there…the bunnyhop contest looked like a blast…some of those dudes got hops!

This past week featured yet another installment of a stellar 722 Figueroa showroom event. Kicking off the Spring 2010 season and getting people in the door and excited is not always an easy task, but ask anyone who was there and you will find that it was another great night of smiles, schmooze, laughs and libation…the DJ’s killed it, and the TIGER TIGER girls were in full effect.
One of the things that I’m still amazed by (after two years of doing these events) is the location and the energy of the 722 Figueroa space (aka the Kim Sing Theater). It offers something special, and it has to be seen, felt and experienced to be believed. Once you experience it, you will know it. It really is one of the most (if not ‘thee’) most unique spots in all of Los Angeles. – See you at the Bijou, – Enjoy.
722 figureheads, mixing with showroom staple SLVDR.
Smiling faces are nice to see.
This guy was all about haviing fun.
Lovely lady interns at front desk.
This night only the illest sweatshirts were worn.

If you read this or my posts over at Ford&Ching you’ll know I’m not-so-quietly impressed by Carre Callaway and her band Queen Kwong. You may remember last year when the band headlined our Dwell on Design after-party and impressed the typically nonplussed design crowd with their powerful mini-set of rock songs.

Carre Callaway doing her job.
Well, her new EP was just released on Sugar Baby and can be downloaded here for only $2.75. “Love Is A Bruise” is full with Carre’s exceptional storytelling, musical arrangement, and deft guitar playing (and keyboards and other instruments on the record…she pretty much does it all except for guest appearances by a selection of music industry heavies). I’ve watched QK numerous times and something remarkable happens when Carre plays music. The normally quiet and withdrawn young woman opens up to reveal a unique voice that is beautiful, unique, and unerringly human. Her lyrics are nasty, mean, and vindictive yet somehow sweet and melancholy. I’m doing her a major disservice with the above description, but just know her skill and talent combine into something worthy of your attention. Do yourself a favor and download “Love Is A Bruise” now and visit her website for more information.
Love Is A Bruise
I’ll be at her Spaceland show tonight at 9pm sharp, quietly wishing I could do anything half as well as Carre Callaway plays music.
John Brady is member in good standing. Last night many of the regulars celebrated John’s 45th birthday at the final night of Firecracker in Chinatown’s Grand Star Jazz Bar. I stayed pretty sober so drunk texting was kept to a minimum. John is a great friend. I hope he made it home alive.
This last week the KIM SING hosted a party for FORD & CHING and DWELL Magazine, here are just a few photos of some of the friends and faces who were there, photographed of course by the lovely TIGER TIGER girls. One thing is for sure, the party’s at the KIM SING are to be remembered by all who make the scene as a really fun and enjoyable evening…I’m confident these will be referred to as the “halcyon evenings” by many. – Enjoy the rest of the photos at TIGER TIGER.
Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Kim Sing Theatre for the Grab Bag Party we hosted on Thursday July 16th. If you were unable to make it, you missed out on a great party and eventful night. At the party you had a chance to pick yourself up a Grag Bag which consisted of 3 Ludwig T-shirts for only $25 (you can still pick up one at the Ludwig Flagship Store) while enjoying free beer. As the intern for Ludwig it was one of my few responsibilities to organize this party. I came up with the idea that we should introduce the grab bag and use the party to promote it.
I had alot of friends that made it out to the party to celebrate my birthday and also to pick themselves up a grab bag.
Mai-Lan stressed out like usual.
Good friends and Ludwig Fans, Camrun and Hamilton.
The infamous Warm Brew. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed!
Much thanks to my good friend Demian Becerra from Holymountain Photography for the pictures!
For those of you who missed “The Party” last Sat. nite, you really did miss it. The parties at the Kim Sing really do bring out some of the best-looking, fun-to-be-around people in LA. It’s part house-party, part social club. If you have been to a party at the Kim Sing for LUDWIG, 722, FORD & CHING, or anything else, you know what I mean…luckily the awesome girls at TIGER TIGER were there to capture the event. – check out their web-site if you were there, most likely your picture is up. Enjoy!
J-man, the best styled man about town.
Mary wears the most stylish frames.
Papparazzi at work.
Always the host.
Best looking place in LA to host an event, right?
The great Fred Eric preparing apps.
Fresh looking faces.
It was another stellar event this past Thursday at Fred Segal. If you missed it, sorry about your luck. We had a great time launching LUDWIG Summer at Fred Segal along with the help of Vice, Hornitos and Izze. The TIGER TIGER girls were there to document the vibe, and again did an amazing job. I can’t say enough good things about these girls and the positive vibe they bring to any event. We had plenty of beer, LAKERS and libation to go around, here are just a sampling of some of the photos, go to the TIGER TIGER site for the full run down. Thanks to all the friends for all the support! you know who you are. – Enjoy.
If you are on the west side of Santa Monica come and join the fun!
