Wallid ( Wal-eegy ) Ismail. I was just thinking about Wallid today, so I decided to post this video interview with the Professor (Stephen Quadros). I have had the pleasure of training with Wallid back in the older rAw days, and hanging out with him socially. One thing I can say about him is that he is a very nice person, and man who says what he means, and means what he says. There are a ton of videos on line of Wallid, bjj, ‘vale-tudo’ and pride fights, check them out, he is the real deal. Here’s to you Wallid!
Nobody expected it to happen,..frankly it was a huge shocker. Buster Douglas out the beat down on Mike Tyson 20 years ago today and knocked him out. Tyson couldn’t deal with the length of Douglas or the speed at which he countered Tyson, turning him at angels again and again. Do yourself a favor and watch it on YouTube.
This past weekend LUDWIG family member and friend Kengo Ura won his Pancrase match against Shingo Suzuki by KO! Congratulations Kengo, now you will fight Wada again for the Pancrase welterweight title! Look out Wada, this time it will not be easy.

The older guy pictured above was a neighborhood classic. He was smoking and trying to coach us from outside. He even tried to show us an escape from the mount which did not work at all. I should have made him sign a waiver. His eyes showed real panic until I demonstrated the proper technique to get out from underneath someone. All those years of kung fu…
Call 310-800-3999 to book a free class or just drop by. Make sure you’re freshly showered, trim your nails, wear gym shorts and a tee, and prepare to have a great time and a great workout.
If you watched the CBS broadcast of the Strikeforce event last night then you know the outcome. Fedor knocked out Rogers mid-way through the second round of the fight, if you did not see it try this link. Fedor is not unbeatable, but he has yet to be matched up against the same type of competitor. I use the term “competitor” because that’s what he is doing, and he’s doing it at the highest level. Fedor has the ability to take the element of “fight” out of the fight equation, and that is what separates him from the rest. It’s why he is so composed, relaxed, and “loose” (Brett Rogers used the term “loose” when referring to Fedor 6x in the post-fight interview) - it is this quality that is remarkable in Fedor and makes him dangerous. It is the art of “fighting without fighting” -Bruce Lee.
Broken nose and all, Fedor remained calm, cool and composed. Rogers never saw it coming.
LUDWIG Family member Kengo Ura had a good fight in TOKYO this past weekend at the Pancrase-Changing Tour 6. He fought Takuya Wada to a draw…2 rounds were not enough to find a winner. When you see Kengo congratulate him on a good fight. Congratulations Kengo!
We’re open to all so please call or come down. Space is very limited (you’ll understand when you see the place). Fees are reasonable and the environment is nothing less than revolutionalry for an MMA gym: friendly, clean, fun. Make it down…you won’t regret it. Open classes Tuesday and Thursday at 730PM and Saturday at 200PM for the “Technique Exchange.” All hours key-in for advanced levels. Mike, Willard, and Kengo will be there to help you out.
Here’s a story about the gym in Angeleno last month:
We spent a couple days with Trigg last week while in Vegas, had dinner with the family, and talked about his return to the UFC a bit. Frank looked pretty good, and seemed to be in shape for next weekends match against ‘Joscheck’. It is always kind of nerve racking when you watch your friends fight, and even after all these years it is still the same. It’s as if I were fighting as well, cuz it seems like i go through the same emotional curve leading up to game time. We here at LUDWIG have a lot of confidence in Trigg, wish him the best, and know that he is going to game up for this fight. Make it happen Trigg, keep the pressure on, and bend it til it breaks. Check out this link for an interview regarding his upcoming fight in Dallas. Photo: Sherdog.
Ludwig crew, meet Boku Kotetsu. We are friends with Boku and met him when we went to the Killer Bee gym to train last year. Boku was really nice and welcomed us with a big smile when we went there. Kengo made the introduction before we went there and they are friends since Kengo has roots with the Purebred gym. Anyhow, I really like Boku’s fighting style, it is exciting and always a good show. He had a really good TKO win over Yutaka at Shooto Tradition Final in May. Check out his link here. Boku wears Black shorts. This photo was re-posted from Rumina’s blog…maybe he took this photo, i know he likes photography, thanks Rumina.
