Some of you may be familiar with the label Alexander Yamaguchi (formerly Alex B, Graphic Mania). The mind behind this label is one of my best friends Yuji Yamaguchi (or Buji to those who know him well enough). I met him about 18 years ago while surfing Hermosa Beach pier, we started talking about the shape of his board (he shaped his own board) and then we started talking about the paint job on my board (I painted my own board)…needless to say we became friends from that moment. Yuji is one of the most talented people I know, and one of the most picky. We have many things in common besides surfing, vintage clothing, graphic design, music, etc. Yuji was my first partner in SUBFREAKIE (more on that later) but after a while we realized that we needed to do our own things…it’s just as well because the new season of Alexander Yamaguchi is really nice, and full of little details and subtle graphic applications only available from the mind of Buji and all of his insane ideas.
